The coronavirus is sweeping through America, and authorities around the country are increasing the rules in an effort to keep everyone safe. Officials tell us that the best thing to do is limit your interactions with other people. While there hasn’t been a call for a quarantine yet, they are telling everyone to practice “social distancing,” which means to stay at least six feet away from others until this pandemic is under control.
Celebrities are also taking this advice to heart, and the latest announcement from Joy Behar is going to upset her fans very much.
Joy has announced she is taking a leave of absence from her hit television show, The View. While nobody on the set has been tested positive for the coronavirus, Joy decided she was going to be extra cautious and not leave anything to chance.
Behar announced her decision on a previously taped episode of The View. She said that, because she is 77 years old, she wanted to be extra careful with her health. She also alluded to a conversation she had with her daughter, who is also concerned about her mother’s health.
Jay said, “I’m in a higher risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy. I don’t look my age, but I’m actually up there. The number makes me dizzy.”
She says she will be self-quarantining at home for a week and then she will reassess whether she will come back to film more episodes of her show.
As of now, her cohosts Whoopi Goldberg, Meghan McCain, and Sunny Hostin are all planning to continue taping the show. It will be interesting to see if some celebrities start to refuse to do talk shows given the pandemic.
Will you tune into The View if Joy Behar isn’t a part of the show?
